How Crisp Air Started

Ryan bought an air fryer on a Black Friday whim in 2021. He had no plan, no recipes, just a vague idea that he could make "healthier fries." The first batch was burnt. The second batch was soggy. The third batch? Perfect. That golden, crispy, guilty-pleasure crunch — without a drop of deep fryer oil. He was hooked.

Sophia, a food blogger and cookbook nerd, watched Ryan's kitchen experiments go from chicken wings to salmon fillets to donuts. She started writing down temperatures, times, and techniques. What started as a messy Google Doc became a structured recipe archive. Friends started texting them whenever they bought an air fryer: "okay, what do I make first?" Crisp Air was born to answer that question for everyone.

Meet Ryan

Ryan is a mechanical engineer turned air fryer evangelist. His engineering brain is why every recipe on Crisp Air includes precise times, temperatures, and even basket placement tips. He's tested over 300 foods in four different air fryer models, tracking what works and what doesn't. He handles the recipe development, testing, and the mildly obsessive temperature logging. Outside the kitchen, he coaches little league softball and is training for his first triathlon.

Meet Sophia

Sophia is a food writer and recipe editor who previously worked at a regional cooking magazine. She brings the editorial eye — making sure every recipe is clearly written, properly formatted, and actually helpful. She also develops the side dishes, desserts, and the "things you didn't know your air fryer could do" content that readers love. When she's not recipe editing, she's binge-watching cooking competitions, reading food science books, or convincing Ryan they need yet another kitchen gadget.

What We Stand For

Ryan and Sophia live in Austin, Texas, where the BBQ is legendary — which makes air frying a slightly controversial hobby. They spend weekends at local food truck parks, hit up estate sales for vintage kitchen gear, and host a monthly "air fryer challenge" dinner party where guests vote on the best dish. They also run a small YouTube channel where they do side-by-side comparisons of air fried vs. traditionally cooked foods.
